Construction Project

The Library is working to minimize the disruption to students and others who use the Library during the construction and other activities related to this project. Phase 1 Construction: September 29, 2008 - December 2009

Emptying the second floor for this project necessitates various moves and small construction projects.

  • The bound journals will be removed from the floor in October 2008.
  • The East Asian Room on the 5th floor will be closed and converted into temporary space for the Interactive Learning Center and Center for Instructional Technology.
  • The GALEN room on the 3rd floor will be converted into Library office space to house the Interlibrary Services staff.
  • A new office for the Copy/Cashier Service will be created in the copy room on the 3rd floor.

Key dates:

  • October 2008 - Remove bound journals from shelves.
  • September - December 2009 - Minor construction on 3rd and 5th floors.
  • November 2009 - Remove shelving from 2nd floor.
  • December 2009 - Relocate 2nd floor offices and services to new locations. Close off 2nd floor.

Phase 2 Construction: January - December 2010

The entire 2nd floor of the Library will be under construction in preparation for the creation of the new Teaching & Learning Center.

January 2011 - Teaching and Learning Center Opens!
